CrossFit is my passion. I enjoy walking into the gym everyday ready to improve, not only myself but everyone around me. I started my CrossFit journey in 2011, shortly after obtained my L1 certification and began coaching. I still can't get enough of it! I have been coached and have coached with many outstanding people right here in the North East. As a coach I love helping athletes of all different skill levels improve themselves in anyway that I can. I have a pretty competitive drive, but I don't let it ruin my sense of fun! When I'm not at the gym saving lives, I am at the fire department saving lives. I have been a firefighter since 2015. "Good better best, never let it rest, until your good is better then your best"
I finally found my family and sense of belonging when I started CrossFitting in 2010. I had long yearned for a mentor, and like minded individuals to spend time with. CrossFit provided all of that for me. Once my anxiety and introverted nature subsided, I found a sense of purpose. My job was to be a coach, guiding humans towards more optimal versions of themselves. About 6 months ago, I started coaching and taking class again at 128. I joke with Coach Britt that 128 saved my life again. It really did. I'm back to working out, eating clean, recovering smarter and loving coaching. Thank you to my new friends at 128 and cheers to the future. Oh I guess I have my CF Level 1 and CF Level 2 also. I currently am pursuing my CF Level 3. I love puppies. I love chicken parm.
My CrossFit journey started in 2013 and continued at CrossFit 128 when it opened in 2014. Having played sports through high school, CrossFit brought back the competitive spirit that had been missing, but most of all it brought a community that continuously rooted for and motivated me. I quickly realized that I love partaking in workouts as an athlete but also love to see people push themselves and exceed their own expectations. After getting my Level 1 Certification in September 2017 I began coaching, and the enjoyment of helping people to better themselves in a safe but driven manner continues to be rewarding! My goal as a coach is to pass along the knowledge I have gained through my experiences and to promote a positive environment for athletes to work out in.
My passion has always been fitness. I pride myself on promoting overall health and wellness while creating a fun, positive, and safe learning environment for individuals with different abilities. Most importantly, my fitness passion stems from being a part of a team. I was always involved in competitive recreational athletics at a very young age, mainly the sport of swimming. During my swimming career at University of Maine, I also studied Kinesiology and Physical Education with a concentration in Exercise Science. When my college career was over, I was missing the ‘team aspect’ and trying to find my place in the world. I finally found CrossFit in 2014 and continue to learn and grow not only as a person, but also as a fitness professional/coach. The best feeling in the world is helping athletes of all age/fitness levels achieve their goals both inside and outside of the gym.
Over the past 10+ years I went from the guy not taking care of himself stepping onto an elliptical machine for the first time to a point where I was programming my own HIIT and strength work while maintaining a high mileage running program. I found myself getting burnt out and in a rut when my wife urged me to try crossfit. Walking through the doors of 128 I found a community that valued accountability, held each other to a standard and cheered each other on. Not only that, I found a renewed drive and energy. Coaching has allowed me to share that energy in order to turn around somebody's bad day, unlock the secret behind a movement that they may be having trouble with or to help somebody dig deep to find that motivation to not give up. That energy is contagious and keeps me motivated to also continuously seek improvement.
In 2013 I was introduced to the Crossfit methodology, and the strong community that comes from within each box, and I have not looked back. After discovering and finding how powerful CrossFit can be for an athlete, individuals rehabbing an injury, or those just looking to gain an overall sense of well being, I decided to transform my mission into putting more emphasis on the coaching side. Since then I have worked to give back to the Crossfit community, what it has given me over the years. During this time I have been fortunate enough to work with many great people of all skill levels, who all have a different set of goals, but all inspire me to give my best back to them each and every day.
