March Athlete of the Month: Ryan Oliphant

“Growing up Sports were always a part of my life. Between playing baseball, basketball and soccer I was busy pretty much all year round. Freshman year of high school after not making the basketball team I realized I needed to do something other than go home from school and either take a nap or play video games so I joined la fitness. Fast forward to senior year I stopped playing all sports completely and focused on two things, work and working out. After three years of trying to do my own thing and make my own workouts (none of which worked) as many people do I would try and follow these workout plans that you find online and 100% of the time quit them after a week because of lack of motivation and determination. After many years at la fitness and not getting the results I was looking for I knew I needed to change something, and that’s where CrossFit came into my life.

CrossFit 128 has been a life changer for me to say the least. I remember going into my first Saturday class with Coach Kevin nervous as hell because I thought I wasn’t going to be able to do the workouts and make a fool out of myself. After that first introduction class Kevin convinced me to come to class the following week and after taking a few classes and meeting some of the members I knew I would fit right in. Eight months later I just competed in my first CrossFit competition (shoutout Wes for being a killer partner!!) and what an awesome experience that was I can’t wait for the next one!

To all the coaches I can’t thank you enough for all your support along the way. You have all helped me love and improve my performance in CrossFit one way or another.

Joining CrossFit 128 is easily one of the best decision I have ever made. This place is more than a somewhere to go workout, it’s a family. From the members to the coaches everyone here is truly amazing. I can’t wait to see what the future holds in CrossFit not only for my self but for everyone at 128.”
