Athlete of the Month: Bethany Gillespie
“Athlete of the month? Me? Wow, thank you!
My CrossFit journey started about a year and a half ago. I had very little CrossFit knowledge, I was simply looking for something to help me drop a few pounds and feel healthier. I was never really an active person. I hit the gym a bit, tried some at home workouts, but never found my groove or felt it was my thing, so why not try CrossFit?
I remember my first CrossFit workout very clearly……Filthy Fifty!!! Filthy what?? I remember Suzie telling me that since it was my very first class, if I didn’t feel comfortable with 50s, scale to a number I felt comfortable with. I did 25s, but still couldn’t make it through…even halfway! Needless to say, I survived and went back for more!
CrossFit has not only pushed me to be in the best physical condition of my life, but I have also formed some of the strongest friendships among my fellow members. The physical component is, of course, important, but it is the community, the endless support of the kind, loving, fearless people that make me look forward to going to class (especially the 5pm’ers) 😉 .
I continue to amaze myself with each workout that I complete and PR that I accomplish (first pull up, first toes to bar), and credit all my progress to the supportive members and the dedicated coaches at 128. I am honored to be part of such an amazing community at CrossFit 128, and will always love my CrossFit family!”
